Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), has unveiled a new principle for advertisement in the State to boost revenue generation and curb leakages.
The new principle mandates advertising practitioner to do fresh registration, revalidation, submission of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), payment of presumptive tax of #3000, and annual renewal of permit which shall be valid for 10 years.
The Director General of the Agency, Hon Temilola Segun Adibi while unveiling the new principle for advertisement at the 2022 stakeholder forum of third party practitioners in Oyo State held at the House of Chiefs, State Secretariat, Ibadan said the new idea would be supported by Geographic Information System (GIS).
The Director General, a one -time member of House of Representative and former Chairman of Ogbomosho North Local Government who was represented by the Director, Admin and Supplies of the agency, Mr Oyetunji Okanlawon said the State adopted the new principle in recognition of the need to over haul advertising practise there by improving the advertisement landscape in the State.
He charged the business community and other stakeholders to key into the new principle by ensuring regular and prompt payment of dues as well as abiding by the codified rules and regulations of OYSAA.
Speaking at the event, Lead consultant in the informal sector in Oyo State and Chief Executive Officer, ITC Advisory service, Mr. Tunde Adaramaja said the consultants are going all out to sanitise the advertising space of Oyo State with enforcement of rules and regulation of OYSAA while not hesitating to blacklist illegal operators.
Also speaking, consultant to OYSAA, third party and Lead partner, BPLAN Advisory services, Mr. Yomi Owojori said the State Government has given them a mandate to stamp out indiscriminate structures, illegal   practitioners and illegal bill boards.
He added that the consultant had a mandate to block all leakages, ensure every statutory advertising revenues is in the coffers of the State Government and capture certified practitioners into its data base using Geographic Information System (GIS).
Commenting on the new principle, the Director of Operation of OYSAA, Mr Lateef Adesina Lawal said upon fresh registration of practitioners, a newly designed registration code is to be issued aside from identification tag and electronic tagging put at #5000 per tag.
Mr Lawal noted that, practitioners would not only submit EIA, Structural Designs and Insurance Policy of their structures, but the prescribed permit shall only be renewed if the agency is satisfied with performance of the advertising operators.
