The Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency ( OYSAA) has issued a firm directive to third – part practitioners engage in outdoor advertising within the State, underscoring the paramount importance of adhering to established standards and regulations governing the profession. This directive was issued by the agency’s Director – General, Hon. Oludolapo Eso – Ajanaku, during a meeting held in his office with key stakeholders in the outdoor advertising sector.
Expressing profound concern, Hon. Oludolapo Eso – Ajanaku expressed the agency’s discontent with the rampant and indiscriminate erection of billboards across the State, which detracts from the aesthetic appeal and urban ambience of Oyo State. He reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to enforce regulatory measures against any third – party practitioner that fails to comply with stipulated rules and regulations.
He specifically highlighted the agency’s zero – tolerance policy towards the clustering of billboards, placement of billboards at unapproved sites, presence of dilapidated billboards’ frames, torn flexes and utilization of substandard construction materials, all of which are deemed unacceptable and will be met with rigorous sanctions to uphold regulatory, integrity and safeguard public safety.
Furthermore, Hon. Oludolapo Eso – Ajanaku highlighted that His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde has created a conducive business environment, therefore stressing the necessity for third – party to settle outstanding debt promptly, as this payment significantly contribute to the Oyo State Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR).
In his closing remarks, Hon. Oludolapo Eso – Ajanaku called for mutual understanding and cooperation among stakeholders to elevate Oyo State to global standard in the signage and advertising industry. Emphasizing the alignment with His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde’s vision to position the State as an attractive destination for investors and tourists, he underscored the pivotal role of signage and advertising sector in realizing this objective.
In his response, the Chairman of the Oyo State Outdoor Advertising Practitioners Association, Mr. Tony Rowland Awobode affirmed that the association will continue to support OYSAA in it’s efforts to combat instances of malpractice in the system.
