The Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) has issued a stern warning to all outdoor advertising practitioners in Oyo State regarding the use of substandard materials in the construction of advertising infrastructure particularly billboards, eye-catchers, unipoles etc.
This directive was delivered by Hon. Oludolapo Eso-Ajanaku, Director-General of OYSAA, during on -site inspections conducted by the agencyâs monitoring and enforcement team. The monitoring and enforcement team rapidly responded to news of collapsed eye-catchers that caused significant traffic disruptions in the city of Ibadan after rainstorms on Thursday, the May 16, 2024.
Expressing his absolute dissatisfaction with the recurring incidents of advertising structures collapses, Hon. Oludolapo Eso-Ajanaku highlighted the potential hazards these incidents pose to road users and the public. He stressed the necessity for outdoor advertising practitioners to adhere strictly to high-quality construction materials and standards to ensure the safety and integrity of installed billboards.
âThe safety of our citizens and the reliability of our advertising infrastructure are paramount,” stated Hon. Oludolapo Eso-Ajanaku. “OYSAA is dedicated to enforcing regulations and laws against the use of substandard materials in the erection and maintenance of advertising structures to protect public safety and maintain order in our state.” He further stated, âAny negligence of advertising infrastructures by practitioners will result in significant fines and potential site revocation.â
In his concluding statements, Hon. Oludolapo Eso-Ajanaku commended the collaborative efforts of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA) and other government safety and security agencies in restoring normalcy to the affected areas in the city of Ibadan.
